从前有一个小岛，上面住着快乐，悲哀，知识和爱，还有其他各类情感。
一天，情感他们得知小岛快要下沉了，于是，大家都准备船只，离开小岛。只有爱留了下来，她想要坚持到最后一刻。
过了几天，小岛真的快要下沉了，爱想请人帮忙。
这时，富裕乘着一艘大船经过。
爱说：“富裕，你能带我走吗？”
富裕答到：“不，我的船上有许多金银财宝，没有你的位置。”
爱看见虚荣在一艘华丽的小船上，说：“虚荣，帮帮我吧！”
“我帮不了你，你全身都湿透了，会弄坏了我这漂亮的小船。”
悲哀过来了，爱向他求助：“悲哀让我和你一起走吧！”
“哦...爱，我实在太悲哀了，想自己一个人呆会！”悲哀答道。
快乐走过爱的身边，但是他太快乐了，竟然没有听到爱在叫他！
突然，一个声音传过来：“过来！爱，我带你走。”
他好似一个机会。爱大喜过望，竟忘记了问他的名字。登上路地以后，他独自离开了。
爱对他感激不尽，问一位长者知识：“请问，帮我那个人是谁？”
“他是时间。”知识老人答道。
“时间？”爱问道：“为什么他要帮我？”
知识老人笑道：“因为只有时间才能理解爱有多么伟大。”

The Best friend a man has in this world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful.
Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name, may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him perhaps when he needs it most. A man's reputation may be sacrifice in a moment of ill-considered action.
The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads.
The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him and the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog.
A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness.
He will sleep on the cold groud where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounters with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince.
When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens.
If fortune drives the master fouth an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him to guard against danger, to fight against his enemies; and when the last scene of all comes, and death takes the master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his graveside will the noble dog by found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true, even to death.
